FLEX AMERICAS S.A. DE C.V To Expand Bopet Film Capacity At Mexico
FLEX AMERICAS S.A de C.V, leading manufacturer of high quality Biaxially Oriented films, which started operations in early 2009 with an investment of over USD 100 million, at Altamira in State of Tamaulipas, Mexico has decided to double its capacity from 36000 tons/annum to 72000 tons/annum. The new capacity should be operational in early 2010.
A new state-of-the-art 8.7 meter wide Dornier BOPET film line and a plasma-enhanced high-barrier vacuum metalliser will be installed at this location at an additional investment of over US$ 50 million. This line is the largest of its kind in the world. Construction for the new plant will commence soon. The product of the company is being sold in Brazil, Columbia, Mexico and USA, to name a few countries. It is imperative that with the start of a new line, the territories will expand.
FLEX AMERICAS S.A.de C.V is a subsidiary of UFLEX Ltd., the world?s only fully vertically integrated flexible packaging manufacturer located in Noida (on the periphery of New Delhi), India. Total Group revenues were around US$ 800 million in 2009. It supplies top-end flexible packaging materials to customers in almost 100 countries all over the world. It has manufacturing plants located in India, Dubai and Mexico. It is also in the process of setting up a green-field 8.7 meter wide biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film plant and a high-barrier metalliser at 6th October City near Cairo in Egypt. This plant is expected to start up during the second half of this year.
With these additions, the total film capacity of Flex Films globally will go upto 300,000 tons/annum.
